Venice: what to visit
What should I see in Venice? That's the question you ask yourself before leaving for your holiday. There is a lot to see in Venice: museums and churches with masterpieces of painting and sculpture, world-famous private collections of contemporary art, great unmissable temporary exhibitions. And above all there is the city itself: in Venice it feels good to loose your way in the calli, the narrow streets of the city, and the campielli, its squares. In its magic atmosphere you can discover picturesque corners hidden from the crowd of tourists, like Campo San Giovanni Novo, where our hotel is. The Locanda Casa Querini is a five-minute walk away from Piazza San Marco (exactly five minutes: try and see), the first stop you think about when you plan your trip to Venice. Besides Piazza San Marco, a few steps from our place there's many monuments and places that you can't miss. Here's our favorites!
What to see in Venice
Piazza San Marco: we all agree you can't miss it. Take some time and visit the basilica and its wonderful golden mosaics, and then visit the Palazzo Ducale, where you will see the world's biggest canvas paintings (the teleri), and climb the stairs up the San Marco steeple. The view from the top will leave you speechless. The National Archaeological Museum (that, too, is in Piazza San Marco) is another hidden gem. Then there's the Rialto bridge, with its ancient small stores and the fish and fruit market...
That's it for now, but there's obviously much more. If you want to know what to visit in Venice, come to our hotel: we'll be glad to help you discover “our” Venice.
